Where would we be without Greg's direction? Take last night's meeting for example. Without his guidance, would any of us have a clue what we're doing? I do not have a complete grasp of what is needed to complete a good screenplay, but with Greg's help I am much closer than I have ever been. Thanks, Greg. I owe you a steak dinner.

Greg, Shane, and the entire group gave thoughtful, constructive comments on a scene from the third act of a feature-length film, on a logline for a dramedy, and on a 17-page screenplay. As appropriate moments occurred, Greg and Shane also talked about things like Celtx.com; the upcoming DWIFF 48-hour film challenge; film festivals in general; and screenwriters' resources. Greg and Shane encouraged the members -- even the ones who are more interested in writing feature-length films -- to try to write a short film to increase the chance of getting it made in the near future and screened in festivals. Sounds like practical advice. At the end of the night, the 2010 Oscar-winning live-action short THE NEW TENANTS was screened, making for a quirky finish to a productive evening. The time flew by. We were working, although it didn't feel like work, for a solid 3 hours -- not counting the 10-15 minutes of socializing just before the screening.

She was very professional. Answered all our questions with thoughtfulness. Encouraged us, in that this is a good period in time for Michigan for film-makers and creativity. Very classy in thanking us for our time!

The meeting was excellent. Participants were enthusiastic. People provided good feedback; constructive criticism regarding various screenwriters' works. The organizer/group leader was knowledgeable about the craft of screenwriting. The interaction amongst writers was lively. It was a good, creative environment in which to help hone one's writing skills.

I enjoyed the meeting very much. It was lively and informative. Also, it was nice to be in a group of like-minded, filmmaking/scriptwriting people and listen to every one's backgrounds, stories, comments. The short film by Melissa was very well done and I hope she goes far with it. I really like the short formats and look forward to writing one and maybe producing it. I think the experience will be helpful for writing feature length work.

Excellent teaching. Wonderful screenplay checklist. Leaders of group move it along and don't get sidelined by superflous talk. Focused.

I wish it could have started on time. It started 20 minutes later. Also, meeting in a lerger space would have been nice. Along with meeting for a little longer. But, I do understand that some kids need they beauty sleep.

Good meeting. We went over exposition and then read through part of a short script from one of the participants. Interesting.
