2008 Screenwriting Workshop

Workshop Mission

Project LightStand is a community of Independent Filmmakers in Southeastern Michigan. Created as a volunteer out-reach by SuperHouse Pictures, the organizers of Project LightStand strives to lead and develop a creative and successful community of screenwriters through a series of Workshop Sessions. Throughout the workshop we read, screen, and discuss examples of good screenwriting. Share our skills and experience teaching the writing process. Most of all we read, review, and discuss our scripts to better develop our screenplays.

Getting Started

"You don't have to think of something that no one else has ever thought of before. Originality can be as simple as putting a fresh spin on an old idea. Remember that however you may feel every writer has felt the same way when writing. Just write something, anything down no matter how good or bad you may think it is. Writing is a struggle against self-doubt and indecision. You have to be a warrior so fight on." Instructor: Craig Dabrowski (Writer/Director).

What to Bring

Writers must bring a hard-copy of their screenplay each week. Staff will make necessary copies for group to read scripts together. Copies should be returned to staff at end of session. Writers should be prepared to take notes during sessions, ask questions if something is not clear, and actively discuss examples. As always, bring your passion and imagination.
